Sommerfugler

See ya.

At last

It’s Saturday morning and I’m all done here. I think I’ll just head down to the bus station rather than sit around (if I sit around I’ll just start thinking of “oh, that could be handy” things to put in my bags, and I’m sure I’ve actually packed all I need, so that would just be stupid). I’ll be about an hour early for the bus (I don’t think I’ll make the earlier bus to the airport), but I’ve got a book, so who cares. I’ll find somewhere that sells coffee, and I’ll be allright. I just want to get moving.

9 hours. I guess I really will survive, after all.

See y’all.

Yawn

I have done all I have to do before I go on holiday, which is good.

I have not done as much this week as I should have, due to various distractions – work-related and boyfriend-related – which is not good, but can’t be helped.

In five minutes I’m leaving the office. I need to send the project manager an e-mail by Monday, but I’ll see if I can manage something later tonight, I can’t think straight right now.

I’m tired. Funny, I’ve actually slept lots this week, I can’t imagine why I should be tired.

Anyway. Going on holiday. Yay! Going to Scotland. Yay! Yay! Meeting up with Martin. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy!

25 hours.

Snookums? I don’t think so.

That’s interesting.

The Princess Bride
I’m sure it’s no big surprise to you that your
romance is The Princess Bride. A heartwarming
tale of “Twue Wuve” that has giants,
Spainards and swashbuckling. You really do
think that love can overcome anything. You may
be a touch naive but your heart is certainly in
the right place. You’ve probably got one of
those relationships where proper nouns have
been replaced with “Snookums” and
“Pookie Pie”. Eww. Beware a cuteness
overload.

Eh, Martin?

Happy birthday, Friday Five!

1. Who is your favorite singer/musician? Why?
I’m not sure I have one favourite, but for the sake of the argument… uhm… ok, Alanis Morissette. Because her lyrics are brilliant, her tunes are good and though Jagged Little Pill was a tough album to follow, I think Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie was very good (though definitely less accessible) and Under Rug Swept is possibly even better than Jagged Little Pill.

2. What one singer/musician can you not stand? Why?
Celine Dion. Urg. And Enrique Iglesias. He gives me the creeps.

3. If your favorite singer wasn’t in the music business, do you think you would still like him/her as a person?
How would I know? I don’t like musicians for their personality, I like them for their music.

4. Have you been to any concerts? If yes, who put on the best show?
Several. Best concert ever? Hm. I was impressed with Meatloaf, partly because though he gave the band a rest he stayed on stage throughout the whole show. Ole Paus is always good, as whatever he says in between the songs is usually as worthwhile hearing as the songs themselves (and that’s saying something).

5. What are your thoughts on downloading free music online vs. purchasing albums? Do you feel the RIAA is right in its pursuit to stop people from dowloading free music?
Right, yes. Whether it’s actually possible is another matter, and I think they’d be wiser to try and come up with a way of working with the technology rather than against it. Personally, though I have a Nomad Jukebox I tend to buy albums and rip them for my personal use rather than download. I have downloaded a few songs, but mostly ones that are hard to get hold of in the shop or where I’d have to pay “full price” (which in Norway is at least 20USD) for an album in order to get the one song I’m interested in.

Mmm. Chocolate.

I had an e-mail from Jane earlier today where she asked me:

In foreign chocolate, do you prefer milk, white, or dark? What about Martin (meaning: what chocolate does he prefer – I know you prefer him over chocolate).

To which I answered:

Funny thing, you know, you’re right. I guess I do prefer him over chocolate. Now, there’s a compliment for you (him, I mean).

And it stuck in my mind, because the answer wasn’t as obvious as you might think (or might think if you’re less of a chocoholic than I am). A year ago at most I had a discussion with some friends originating in a Nemi cartoon strip where she and Cyan read statistics saying 83% of British women prefer chocolate to sex (Nemi’s comment: “And they don’t even have Freia.”) – and I seem to remember most of us agreeing that though we could live without sex, we weren’t sure we could live without chocolate.

So the fact that given the choice never to see Martin again or never to have chocolate again I would chose to forego the chocolate really says something. Not that I just want him for the sex, mind – I might still prefer chocolate to sex. I mean, if someone said “you can have Martin and as much chocolate you want but no sex or Martin and as much sex you want but no chocolate” what would my answer be, I wonder? Well, never mind that now, it’s Martin: The Complete Package I’m talking about here. Quite glad no one is forcing me to choose, in any case.

As Jane says:

Ah, but the real beauty is, you can have him AND chocolate!

Yes, indeedy.

Except he’s in Scotland and I’m not. 47 hours to go.

Mmm. Chocolate.

Wish I were there

I hate it when he phones.

Ok. Strike that. I obviously do not hate it when he phones. (Please phone again.)

It just makes it harder to forget where he is and what he’s doing, that’s all. For your information, they’re at Bushmill’s, and later today they will be sailing to Islay with – apparently – a strong following wind. I’d much rather be here in the office writing stupid views. Much rather. If I say it enough times, do you think I’ll believe it?

Sigh.

76,5.

Sigh. Siiiighhh.

Accio concentration.
