Via Tinka: Blender’s 50 Worst Artists in Music History
I own God Shuffled his Feet, I think. I can’t remember having listened to it more than once, though. Otherwise, there is the odd hit on compilation CDs (The Living Years on one called “Songs of Heaven”, for example), but no more whole albums. I wouldn’t mind a Michael Bolton’s greatest hits if I could get one without Georgia On My Mind and Sitting at the Dock of the Bay, but I suspect that’s going to be a hard one to find (I know the rest of his hits are cheesy and terrible, but I like cheesy and terrible).
I like a good quarter of the bands on that list. A lot. Damnit.
I always knew I had no taste, but this clinches it.
Amazing. Whoever wrote that list hasn’t the intelligence God gave a small soapdish. When you can find some of the greatest musical geniuses and influences, for that matter, of the last century on a list of worsts, somebody obviously hasn’t a freaking clue. Just because he has no taste doesn’t mean that other people that understand music don’t.
To be honest I’ve hardly even heard of quite a lot of these artists – as usual with these lists it’s somewhat orientated towards the North American market. Those I do know, though, I’d mostly agree with the criticism, but then I never claimed to have any clue as far as musical genious goes ;)
