Oh, dear. Just remembered it’s that time of year again. The time, that is, leading up to my mother’s birthday.
Yet again I have absolutely no idea what to get her.

How about grandchildren? :P
Uhm, well apart from all other objections that come to mind: Jane, I don’t know whether anyone’s told you this, but human pregnancies tend to be a bit longer than three weeks (which is all I have).
Really? Hmm, back to the drawing board then…. there’s another thing which would make her very happy, I’m sure, but that would take just as much co-operation as my first suggestion, and I’m sure making your mother happy is not the best reason to go ahead with that one, either. Difficult, difficult. I never know what to get my mother, either – she’s already got grandchildren (thanks, sis!), AND the other thing.
If you’re thinking what I think you’re thinking I don’t actually think my mother would accept that that was a ‘present’ for her. So I’d still have to get her something. And, no, making my mother happy does not seem to be a very good reason for forestalling events.
It’d be quite funny to see the look on her face, though.
