And I’ve been oogling pictures… The Leaky Cauldron had some, obviously. But via distantsun and trash, courtesy of Warner Bros (more pictures there) we bring you a delightfully sinister-looking Tom Riddle. Now, why would I find him sinister-looking I wonder?

You’ve gotta love Swedes
A 47-year-old man is up before the court in Sweden for attempting to rob a post-office.
Claiming to be armed, he handed the clerk a note, asking for his bag to be filled with cash and – this is the good part – for 350 million Swedish kroner to be transferred to his own personal bank account… Seeing as the bank accounts in Scandinavia are tied to your personal id number, identifying the would-be millionaire proved to be a task even the Swedish police could handle.
That made my day, that did…
Plusses and minuses
Went to the gym today, and managed not to stop at the kebab place opposite when I came out, despite the fact that it was just about time for dinner, and I was really hungry.
Yeah me.
One the other hand I stopped to buy a litre of milk and a laundrette card on the way back and “accidentally” bought a bag of bamsemums (marshmallowy bears covered in chocolate) as well. I haven’t opened it yet, but I am planning to, just as soon as I’ve logged off here (and maybe tidied up just a tiny wee bit). I need to read chapters 3, 4 and 5 of Winnie-the-Pooh and come up with some brilliant thoughts for the zep group read. Bamsemums, and then some coffee, go just dandy with W-t-P.

Oh d-d-d-dear
Top of the Pops 2: December 1992. Take That. A very young Robbie Williams with a very strange hairdo. My, he’s improved, hasn’t he. A useful reminder of why I never liked Take That. They stunk. I had obviously repressed the memory in view of Robbie’s recent decent releases. I mean, you gotta love Something Stupid, even if he’s not Frank Sinatra (I mean, give the guy a break, only Sinatra can be Sinatra after all). Besides, Kidman does a better job than Nancy, so on the whole I actually prefer the Williams/Kidman version.
Oh, dear, dear, dear. They are now showing the recent cover of Light My Fire. Tragic. I don’t think I even want to know the name of the poor misguided kid. There are covers and there are covers. This one is worse than Britney’s I Love Rock and Roll, and that is saying a lot.
ABBA
I splashed out a bit today on the dvd of The Adventures of Priscilla Qeen of the Desert. I had to traipse all over town to find it, too. Akers Mic even said they could only find it on the system as Zone 1 and that it wasn’t even released over here yet, and I had sort of given up when I passed Filmens Hus (The House of Film – contains the film museum, a research library and a theatre used by the film club) and thought, hmm, I’ll just check the shop… And sure enough, they had it. At a rather higher price than I had hoped, but I bought it anyway. I had had this sudden urge to see it again. Which I have now done. It is as good as ever. And now I’m listening to ABBA.
In honour of that I did another quiz, though it wasn’t very good – too easy to guess the results and too many spelling mistakes (not being critical or anything). Besides, is it only me, or is that “You are…” text a bit self-contradictory?
Which Priscilla Queen of the Desert Drag Queen Are You?
I was looking for movie sites, really, but found the quiz and this, instead: Priscilla, Queen of the Dessert. Hm, I fancy a snack. Do you think they deliver to Oslo?

Och aye
Still finding my feet at work and now the autumn is looking super-busy. Which is both good and bad (the busy bit, I mean). Good, because being at work with nothing to do is something I’ve done too much of already in my not-so-long-that-it’s-worth-mentioning career. Bad because, well, I can’t quite see how we’re actually going to manage to do it all. Especially once we take into account that the day only has 24 hours and we’re not actually supposed to work all of those…
Nice long weekend ahead now (remind me of those words Sunday evening, please). Not planning to do much, really, except get some washing done Sunday. Also want to go see Lilo & Stitch, because if it’s on in the original (rather than dubbed in Norwegian) at all, it will only be on for the first few weeks. So if I don’t get myself off to the theatre now, I’ll have to wait for the DVD release.
I suddenly had a flashback to when I was, what, 8 or so? My mother took me to the cinema in Hamar to see Annie. (Wow – I just impressed myself, checking the net it looks like the movie came out in 1982 which would make me 8 precicely.) Somehow – and this puzzles me, the reason for which I will get back to below – they had managed to sell too many tickets, and one of us had to sit on the stair next to the seat. I loved the film. I remember wondering how they managed to film that bit when she’s hanging from the bridge – how did they keep the actress safe while making it look like she was about to fall into the river? They’ve redone the cinema now, after we moved. I’m sure it’s much better, but I don’t think I want to go back. Funnily enough, what I remember best about the actual cinema is coming out after the film and always being suprised at the daylight, always somehow expecting it to be as dark outside as it was inside.
This was way back when, before they had computerised the ticketing system. They had these big boards full of tickets, on board for each show, one ticket on each board for each seat, and they tore the number of tickets off for you from the appropriate area of the board (bottom for the front of the theatre, top for the back). I can understand how the computer can get the number of tickets wrong, but how could they sell too many if there is just one physical piece of paper for each seat? Maybe the problem was actually that the seats were unnumbered for the show and that we couldn’t find two seats anywhere near each other?
Talking of pictures (weell…), the Picture of the day link at the top here should now actually link you to the new blog. And I’m really going to try getting in at least one picture a day. Having spent all this money on a nifty digital camera, I had better find some use for it, hadn’t I. Trying to add some local colour when I can (today’s picture is very local), it’s meant to be a pictoral diary rather than a display of photographic art. That’ll come later. Incidentally, the menu item intended for the aforementioned p. a. is “Gallery” and I’ve put the link to the new blog there as well for the time being (well, the menu item wasn’t in use at all). What else? Uhm, well, I’ve gone for a bit of a different layout. Just to set it apart a bit from the “literal” part of the site. And though I originally intended to do something fancy with thumbnails and pop-up windows, I’ve decided against it. Partly I don’t quite have the energy for the coding involved and partly because the “look” I’m going for is sort of sketchbook anyway, and full-size entries fits the look better. This does mean, though, that the pages will probably take a while to load on slow connections. If it’s a major problem, let me know, will you? (Come to think of it, I’m on a pretty slow connection myself, so I ought to be able to tell. But let me know anyway.)
That is really all for tonight, I think.

Prickly
I am feeling completely shitty. My head hurts and my back hurts and I just want to roll up into a little ball. Very hedgehoggy.
It’s that time of the month. That time when I seriously question God’s abilities as a designer. Wasn’t it a theory, at some point, that “the curse” was God’s punishment to women for Eve’s fall? Right now it makes sense to me. Bloody (literally) unfair, but if this isn’t a punishment it really is a serious design flaw.
Oh, and I just checked in on The Yankee Blogger, which didn’t help. Thank heavens it’s Friday.

Finally got to give blood today. They figured I’d be allright now with the iron reserves up for this long. Also remembered to register for the bone marrow register. Feeling nice and useful.
As mentioned before, in addition to making me feel useful, giving blood in Norway is good because you get to pick a goodie of some sort when you’re done. So I now have yet another mug, this one from Arabia (Finland) with Little My:
Yay me.

Yawn
Got to bed WAY too late last night. I got a bit hooked on the new Bokprat forum and then realised that since cable is working again I could watch Parkinson – which I proceeded to do despite the fact that it was one I’ve already seen (Martine McCutcheon, Terry Wogan and Jennifer Lopez – hilarious show). And then I read a few chapters in my book, and suddenly it was the sort of time when the chariot turns back into a pumpkin, and I should have been fast asleep.
Had a guestmap entry from Theresa, so obviously I had to have a look at her blog – she’s done a 100 things list, too. It’s funny how fascinating reading other people’s list is. In any case, finding another blogger in Norway (even if she’s not Norwegian) is quite good fun. She also likes Pooh, apparently. At least I assume she does, seeing as her URL is “spellingtuesday”.
